Wheelabrator Tilghman, wheel blast technology –
- Benjamin Tilghman took out the first British patent for sand blasting equipment in 1870 and then formed his first company in 1872.
- In 1890, the Altrincham factory of Tilghman was established where it has since remained and many standard and specialised blast-cleaning machines have been designed and built, particularly for the UK but also for other countries.
- Production traditionally focused on high-volume machines for the foundry industry but today Wheelabrator Tilghman is also well established in the automotive, steel, construction, aerospace, and steel industries.
